ACADEMIC CALENDAR
The SMACCs academic year typically starts on September 1 and ends on August 31 of the following year, taking into account the academic calendar of the individual partner Universities. Students are encouraged, when possible, to arrive 1-2 weeks before the start of the class periods applicable to their 1st semester Partner University in order to participate in possible orientation sessions, complete administrative obligations (e.g., registration, insurance, rental contract, residence permit) and get acclimatized to the new environments before the classes start.
The three first semesters are dedicated to courses, whereas the fourth semester is entirely dedicated to the preparation of a Master Thesis.
A SMACCs Summer School is organized every year for one week in July at one of the SMACCs Universities, and includes the participation of SMACCs students, SMACCs Universities staff members and Associated Partners. SMACCs students must participate face-to-face in at least one summer school during their curriculum, at the end of the first or second academic year. Students have the opportunity to present their Master Theses in front of the consortium during the Summer School.
A SMACCs Winter School is organized in January in one of the SMACCs universities, which consists in a week of seminars and activities given by Associated Partners/SMACCs teachers or researchers/other guests to the students. SMACCs students must participate face-to-face in at least one Winter School during their curriculum, in January of their first or second academic year.
